We review designs with an operator's eye, assess plants and staffing, and help owners hold contract operators to their contracts.
Design review and conceptualization
We review designs for operability and help conceptualize and scope new work. Our work with hundreds of plants across the United States and Canada informs the design operability reviews we perform.
- Design operability reviews: how easy the plant will be to run and maintain day to day: access, sampling points, controls, and the things operators live with every day
- Process design review: a second look at the treatment process itself, sizing and flow, so the design can meet its permit limits under real operating conditions
- Design conceptualization and scoping
- SCADA loop and alarm verification
Value engineering review
We review a design or a proposed change with an operator's eye for cost and operability, and look for options that lower capital and operating cost without hurting plant performance.
- Review of design options for capital and operating cost
- Operability and maintainability of each option
- Energy and chemical use over the life of the equipment
Condition assessment
Assessment of the condition of your plant and its systems. Tell us about your plant and we will talk through what an assessment should cover.
Staffing studies
An objective look at how many operators, at what skill levels, the plant needs. We have evaluated training and staffing needs at a 44 MGD Georgia utility as part of a team.
Contract operations performance reviews
We were part of a team that gave cities comprehensive performance reviews of their contracted wastewater plants, used to decide whether the contracts were being met and renewal was warranted. The reviews covered maintenance, operations, laboratory, finance, asset management, safety, SOPs, manuals, SCADA and more. We also gave input on contract revisions and helped write RFPs and score proposals.
Capacity re-rating
A system-wide optimization approach to determine whether a plant's capacity can be re-rated, for increased capacity and reduced capital costs, as we did for a Washington county plant.
