About us
Wastewater operations consulting and training for utilities and industrial plants, backed by 45 years of experience in wastewater, 38 of them as consultants.
Who we are
Wastewater Solutions, Inc. (WSI) is a wastewater operations consulting and training company. We have served utilities across the United States and Canada for 17 years, backed by 38 years of consulting experience and 45 years in wastewater. We help utilities start up new facilities, cut energy and chemical costs, regain permit compliance, and build certified, confident operating staffs through hands-on training and plant-specific O&M manuals.
Our work draws on 45 years of experience in wastewater, 38 of them as consultants, including National Practice Leader roles for Operations Services at Kennedy Jenks and Brown and Caldwell.
Certifications and licenses held

The experience behind Wastewater Solutions, Inc.
We bring 45 years of experience in wastewater, 38 of them as consultants, to every project. We have worked inside treatment plants, run them, and advised the utilities that depend on them, and that range of experience shapes the practical, plant-ready advice our clients receive.
We have served as superintendents of two Indiana advanced treatment plants, one rated at 27 mgd and the other at 24 mgd. Running those plants meant leading staff and managing the annual O&M budget, coordinating improvement projects, directing grant and revenue funds, and taking part in union contract negotiations, along with the lift stations, collection lines and combined sewer overflow sites that come with a large utility.
Our experience also includes two national engineering firms. At Brown and Caldwell we served as Senior Operational Specialist and then National Practice Leader for Operations Services. At Kennedy Jenks we served as National Practice Leader and grew and developed the service sector. At both firms we led startup and commissioning on nearly every major wastewater project, managed vendor training and staff onboarding, and stayed on after startup to optimize the new processes.
As consultants, we are known for process and energy optimization in activated sludge plants, phosphorus removal and reducing solids yield. Our audits have documented savings such as $536,550 per year at an Indiana plant, and our process changes took an overloaded Washington SBR plant from an SVI of 400 to below 150. We also write plant-specific and electronic O&M manuals for municipal and industrial plants, and we have trained operators at one Indiana plant in 26 of the last 29 years. Our work with hundreds of plants across the United States and Canada also informs the design operability reviews we perform.
Whether the job is starting up a new facility in Hawaii or helping an operating staff earn their certifications, our goal is the same: a plant that runs well, run by people who are confident running it.
